For the Hudson Valley New York Kids My husband and I were driving down the road during the local spring cleaning weekend. We kept seeing bikes everywhere. I thought to myself, what a waste. All those old bikes needed was some TLC. So we started to take some home to fix up. 15+ bikes later, I'm looking in my driveway wondering what did we do?" My husband was outside one day and this young kid came up the driveway He asked him "what are you doing with those bikes, are you throwing them out? My husband replied we our fixing them up. So the kid turned around and walked away very sad. My husband and I got to talking and we decide we would fix them up for kids in the neighborhood. Every kid deserves a bike. The next day I went out, while I was driving. I thought this is a great cause! Lets get other people involved. I told some people that I was having a Free Bike Drive and one lady said that she had some bikes to donate. Got me thinking we could make this really big. We decide we wanted to do more for the children on a bigger scale so I called the Police debt. in the area. We now provide free bikes for children under age 17. We sell most adult bikes for our expenses. We also have reconditioned parts.
We use Advantage Self Storage
My husband and I have no choice but to work out of our garage even know we have limited space with the boat and motorcycles. We installed a alarm. It gave us a chance to work in the safety of our own home. We have some dedicated kids to help us. There troubled youth we want to have help us, to get them off the street. I could put my son Nikolas to bed or lay down when I need to instead of being left in a unsecured building. Kids ring the door bell all threw out the day. When they herd free bikes, we were not left alone. My husband works 12 hour shifts and tries to sleep in the day so it was rough on him. So we now have it Appointment only. Open April through Halloween. Halloween day is are end of the season giveaway. I am disabled so it is tiring for me, but very rewarding. When I watch the kids driving down the road Some saying "hey Laura. It makes me proud I was able to help.
